Our Boat - The Aloha Kalona
The Aloha Kalona is owned and operated by us and we are very proud of her!
Hand made from the ground up from rare and expensive Mai Takien - Hopea Iriana.
Mai Takien is a very tall tree in the same family as teak. In Thailand it is believed to be a very spiritual tree. Before one is cut monks and all nearby villagers come to chant and pray for days in a beautiful cermemony to ensure that the good protective sprits remain within the wood after it is felled.
Once the tree is cut it is brought to the village for more ceremonies before being sent to the shipyard to be cut into long wide single planks. The small scraps left over are used for making Buddhist Amulets by monks.
The planks are 25-30cm wide and 10-15cm thick making the boat stronger pound for pound than a fiberglass boat, but more forgiving in rough seas.
The hull is a double V hull which is very stable in the ocean and cuts through the water even in rough seas.
She has two Yamaha 200 horsepower engines to give her plenty of power and speed to get you to Phuket's best location fast and safe.
Moored in Chalong, she is licenced to carry 25 people comfortably. She is wider and longer than other speedboats used for small group tours.
There is a marine toilet onboard and a spray shower at the back to rinse off.
We welcome you aboard the Aloha Kalona for the Highlight of your Holiday in Phuket!
Please Note: During the summer months our boat will be in dry dock for maintenance and painting. During this time, we lease several different size boats to fit the size of the group. This allows us to take very small groups during the slower summer months.
