Who can SNUBA?
|
If you are 8 years old or older and in good health - you can SNUBA dive. Basic swimming skills are suggested, but not required. It is important that you feel comfortable being in the water. Guests can always hold onto the air hose and simply kick their legs to move forward. An instructor is always underwater and able to assist you should you need any help. |
Is SNUBA Safe?

SNUBA is the world's safest way to try diving. Since 1988, SNUBA has introduced over 4 million people to diving - with ZERO insurance claims! The SNUBA system is designed with safety in mind. Every aspect of the system is designed to make your first experience breathing underwater as safe and easy as possible. Where can we SNUBA?
|
All SNUBA dives are done at one of Phuket's beautiful Coral Reefs. Currently we offer 2 SNUBA Tours - SNUBA Racha Yai Tour & Phi Phi PRIVATE SNUBA Tour. Racha Yai (Raya Island) has some of Phuket's best Coral Reefs, which are still in pristine condition. There are many different diving and snorkeling sites to choose from at Racha Yai. The amount and diversity of the marine life found at Racha Yai is sure to impress even experienced snorkelers and divers. After your SNUBA dives, Racha Yai has some of Phuket's nicest and least crowded beaches to relax, play, and swim off of. Our Phi Phi PRIVATE Tour gives your group the chance to pick and choose which sites to dive and how much time you would like to spend sightseeing. Phi Phi has become quite the tourist mecca and is best enjoyed on an individual tour, so you can avoid the crowds and truly enjoy what Phi Phi has to offer. We do NOT offer SNUBA tours to Coral Island - there is simply to much coral degradation (destruction from people walking on and touching the coral), boat traffic, and too many tourists to make for an enjoyable day. The diving conditions can vary dramatically anytime of the year, especially with its close proximity to the main island of Phuket. If you would like to explore any of Phuket's other coral reefs, please feel free to enquire about a private SNUBA tour for your group. |
I am a Certified Diver - can I SNUBA?
|
Yes - SNUBA is a great way for families or friends that have one person who is a certified scuba diver to all share the same experience underwater! As a certified diver you have probably told your friends and family for years how amazing the underwater world is, now you can finally share that experience with SNUBA. Who knows, maybe they will take the next step and become certified divers too! Certified Diver's often comment on the unique free feeling they have while SNUBA diving, since there is no heavy tank or BCD to wear. If you are a certified scuba diver and would like to scuba while the rest of your group SNUBA dives, please contact us and we will help arrange for you to dive with us. |
What is the difference between Discover Scuba (DSD) and SNUBA?
|
A DSD (Discover Scuba Dive) and SNUBA both allow you to experience the wonders of exploring the underwater world. The main difference is that you must undergo more training to try a DSD, as you must learn how to use and operate the BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) to control your depth in the water, monitor your own air consumption, and ensure you stay with the group. SNUBA does not use a BCD. You will be neutrally buoyant in the water and able to adjust your depth by simply swimming or using the air line to move up or down in the water. The 7 meter long hose also prevents anyone in the group from becoming separated or lost during the dive. Your SNUBA Guide monitors your air consumption for you. During a SNUBA dive all you have to do is enjoy the Coral Reef's and be amazed! Of course we hope that after your SNUBA experience you will love diving so much that you will go on to pursue the sport and become a certified diver! However, we have many guests who simply don't want to undergo 3-4 days of training to become certified divers and just want to enjoy the coral reefs during their holiday once a year and for them, SNUBA is the perfect option. With our SNUBA Underwater Tour, you get a full day experience including:
Compared to a DSD (Discover Scuba) Dive Tour:
|
How Deep?
| SNUBA has a maximum depth of 7 meters (21 feet). This depth is perfect for exploring the coral reefs as most coral and marine life can be found in the 2 - 8 meter range. |
How long has SNUBA been around?
|
SNUBA International has been providing SNUBA Underwater Tours since 1988. For over 21 years SNUBA has been introducing people around the world to the thrill of exploring the underwater world. |
Where can I book a SNUBA Tour?
|
In Advance: If you are planning your SNUBA Tour in advance your can reserve your SNUBA Tour online with payment options of PayPal or Google Checkout. In Phuket: We only work with responsible tour desks that allow their business partners to operate in a manner that benefits the guests, not the accountants. Many of the tours available at hotel tour desks are operated by companies that pay the hotel 30-60% commissions. In order to make those tours profitable they have to cut corners and increase numbers - both of which lead to a poor quality experience. SNUBA International is proud to work with some of the best resorts and cruise lines in the world. However, some resorts, even top name resorts, are only concerned with the bottom line. Which is why we at ALOHA SNUBA Thailand will not work with anyone whose only concern is money. If our tour is not available at your hotel or resort's tour counter, please contact us. We will direct you to a tour desk counter that has knowledgeable staff that can help answer all of your questions and provide you with the best tours, not the most profitable ones. |
Snorkeling
Are the Snorkeling Tours operated by ALOHA SNUBA Thailand?
|
NO - All of the Snorkeling Tours that can be booked on ALOHA SNUBA Thailand's website are independently owned and operated. We do our best each year to sort out the best from the absolute nightmares that are out there. We do this as a service to help prevent travellers from wasting their money and day on some of the fly-by-night tours that are out there in Phuket. Most tour desks will only sell the tours that they profit the most from - not the ones that are the best for their guests. We do our best to find quality tours for every budget. If you want honest answers - we will provide them, but there is one general rule that applies here in Phuket more than anywhere else: You get what you pay for!!! |
What is Snorkeling?
| Snorkeling is basically swimming with your face in the water, while using a tube like device (snorkel) to breath. |
