The Big Buddha is a recent addition to the mountains high above Phuket. Instead of looking for some things to do in Phuket, try getting off of Phuket! The islands surrounding Phuket are picture perfect places to snorkel, relax, swim, take pictures, and have lunch. Many people are surprised to find that the waters off the beaches in Phuket are not as clear and inviting as the brochures seem to look. That is because the islands around Phuket are where most of the travel brochure photos are taken. Phuket offers a fantastic base from which to explore all of the islands and still be back in the evening for some of the best dining in Phuket. If you are looking for some things to do in Phuket you coul spend weeks exploring Phuket's islands. There are tours available for every budget from longtail boats to private speedboat charters. Our best advice - look around on the internet for a company that has invested a bit more than a few dollars in a brochure and huge payoffs to tour desks to push their tour. Thai food from street vendors is usually served in small portions that are easily consumed leaving plenty of room for another tasty snack. Be adventurous - try it all!
